We Are Responsible To The World
As SELSA, our sentiment, attitude and goal in “sustainability” is to carry out our production by protecting the life of the world and all the living things in it.
We are always aware of our responsibilities to the world as we continue to evolve, grow, move forward, to keep ourselves and our customers in constant development, to increase our economic growth, and to continually raise the well-being level of our company and customers.
As SELSA, we fully accept and support the United Nations Commission on Environment and Development’s definition in 1987; “Humanity has the ability to make development sustainable to ensure that it meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”
We care that all our commercial activities create an added value in terms of the economic sustainability of the world.
We care that our communication with our employees and all our social stakeholders including the families of our employees and our social projects support the social sustainability of the world.
We make diverse efforts to positively reflect our production, business model, all kinds of working principles, all kinds of consumption that we carry out in order to carry out our own sustainability, in the environmental sustainability of the world through stable, determined and inspiring projects.

The “SELSA Environmental Management System”, which we have built on the “Environmental Sustainable Production Model” philosophy, also forms the structure of these efforts.

ENVIRONMENT MANAGEMENT
We want every trace we will leave on the world to be clean and beautiful. We want the world of the future to be ‘good’, not just today.

WATER MANAGEMENT
We protect our most valuable resource! Water is vital in the manufacturing and use of our products.

ENERGY MANAGEMENT
Our energy efficiency team is working with the determination to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and energy use for a better and cleaner tomorrow.

ENVIRONMENT MANAGEMENT
We want every trace we will leave on the world to be clean and beautiful. We want the world of the future to be ‘good’, not just today.
We do not deem what needs to be done for the environment and nature as solely the duty of governments or others; it is our most important duty as well.
Our philosophy is to control the effects of environmental factors caused by processes on climate change, air, earth and water in a preventive and corrective approach and to put forward our responsibility for continuous improvement to reduce possible negative values. In applying this philosophy, we have the full support and full participation of our employees and management staff for the continuity of our motivation and strength.
Our "Think The World" cloth bags are a small but tangible indication of our love for nature. We believe that these cloth bags will help spread our nature philosophy to a wider audience as they go outside of SELSA and reach other homes and people.
SELSA ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
- We aim to be inspiring in protecting our natural resources and using them in the most efficient way when necessary.
- Of course we all have to make each and every effort to clean the environment but we embrace the "not polluting is more valuable than cleaning" approach.
- We inspire our new employees with our sensitivity to comply with all the legal regulations and standards regarding the environment.
- We focus on preventing pollution, using natural resources efficiently and ensuring the protection of the environment by reducing the amount of waste and energy consumption in line with our Environmental Goals and Objectives, which we update every year.
- We plant saplings for all our employees on their birthdays
WATER MANAGEMENT
WE PROTECT OUR MOST VALUABLE RESOURCE!
Water is vital in the manufacturing and use of our products. Water is vital in the manufacturing and use of our products. Therefore, it is a fundamental requirement for SELSA to utilize all possibilities to protect the water. We shape our understanding of water management in line with the principle of efficient use of water. We manage our water consumption and waste water processes responsibly and try to carry out our activities with minimum water consumption.
WE REDUCE THE USE OF WATER IN PRODUCTION!
We periodically reorganize our production processes to reduce water use as much as possible and recycle water, and we organize our new production lines with this approach.
Within the scope of our OHSAS 18001 Certificate, our R&D, engineering and production teams strive to follow, develop and implement water-saving innovations in the areas of cleaning, filtering and reuse.
According to various climate scenarios and research by relevant sources, we know that the risk of our world losing its water will increase in the coming years. Consequently , it is SELSA’s utmost duty to develop various projects to reduce its water consumption. As a result of our improvement efforts, we have improved our water consumption per unit piece by 26% from 2016 to 2019. With the projects we are planning, we are targetting another 10% additional savings by the year 2023.
ENERGY MANAGEMENT
Our energy efficiency team is working with the determination to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and energy use for a better and cleaner tomorrow. At SELSA, we strive to do our part in reducing greenhouse gas emissions that impact climate change.
We started the activities for "Energy Management and Monitoring Platform" which we plan to establish within SELSA in 2020. We have posters in all of our production areas with messages to raise the energy awareness of our employees.
We enhance our employees’ "energy protection" competence through various trainings, including the "Energy Efficiency Seminar and Training" organized by BOSCH.
- We have achieved permanent energy savings as a result of replacing fluorescent lighting with led in all our work areas and offices.
- We have achieved permanent energy savings with the anti-evaporation plastic ball application in the phosphate plant and we have ensured the reduction of the resulting waste.
- As a result of the reduction of evaporation, we have also reduced the inhalation of phosphate chemicals for occupational safety.
- We saved the energy used to cool the production area during the summer months by collecting the hot air and discharging it out.
- We saved the energy used for heating by transferring the hot air we collected during the winter months to other areas.
Energy consumption is directly related to climate change, given the increasing costs each year. As a result of our improvement efforts, we have improved our energy consumption per unit piece by 16% from 2016 to 2019. We plan another 20% improvement by 2023 as a result of the efforts and projects of our energy efficiency team.
WASTE MANAGEMENT
We have come a long way in a short period of time thanks to the innovative ideas we have implemented to reduce and recover our waste and the strong relationships we have built with our suppliers, but we are fully aware of the fact that there will always b
Within the scope of our ISO 14001 certificate, we carry out all that's necessary with precision and work with minimum waste target. We revised our Waste Oil Recycling Area in 2019 and thanks to this investment we have recycled our waste, saving 25% from our new oil purchases.
As a result of our improvement efforts, we have improved our waste generation per unit piece by 10% from 2016 to 2019. With the projects we are planning, we are targetting another 10% additional decrease by the year 2023
